2 Click the Create new set icon ( ) located at the bottom of the Actions panel; a New Set dialog box ap-
pears.
3 In the Name text field, type My Actions , and then click OK. A folder appears at the bottom of the list
of actions.
4 Click the Create new action button ( ) at the bottom of the Actions panel; when the New Action dialog
box appears, type My Type Effect .
5 For color, select Red. You won't see this color until later in the lesson when the view of the Actions
panel is changed. Click Record when you are done. A red circle in the Actions panel indicates that
your steps are being recorded.
Start recording your own script.
Note that any steps that you make will be recorded in your script. Mouse movements and time are not
recorded.
6 Confirm that you have the Get the Beat layer selected in the Layers panel. Click the Add a layer style
button ( ) at the bottom of the Layers panel and select Stroke; the Layer Style dialog box appears
with the settings selected for the Stroke effect.
The default width and color of black for the stroke are selected and previewed on the screen. You will
change these settings while recording.
7 Click the box to the right of Color; the Color Picker appears. Move your cursor over the image area to
see that you can click to sample a color for your stroke from anywhere in the image. For this exercise,
a dark purple is selected; you can select a different color. After sampling a color, click OK to return to
the Layer Style dialog box.
