3 Test your image by clicking the Preview button at the bottom of the Save for Web window. The pre-
view window matches the matting color you selected so you can see the image in the same back-
ground color in the browser.
4 Once you are done previewing your file, close the browser, return to the Save for Web window, and
click Save. In the Save As dialog box, browse to locate the advps10lessons folder. Name the file ad-
vps1004_optimized.gif , and then click Save.
5 Choose File > Close to close the advps1004_work file.
Animating a GIF
Where appropriate, animated GIFs add interest to a web page. In the following steps, you will create an
animated GIF.
1 In Adobe Photoshop, choose File > Open. In the Open dialog box, locate the image named ad-
vps1005.psd in the advps10lessons folder. The original image file for the last image you worked on is
now open.
2 Choose File > Save As, and in the Save As dialog box type advps1005_work into the File name text
field. Make sure that you are saving the file into the advps10lessons folder and that it is still in the nat-
ive Photoshop format. Click Save.
3 Choose Window > Timeline to open the Timeline panel. If necessary, select Create Frame Animation
from the Create Video Timeline, and then click the Create Frame Animation button, the Timeline pan-
el shows your initial frame for the animation.

In Photoshop, frames are like a flip book. Each frame appears for the amount of time you specify, creat-
ing a simple animation.
4 In the Animation panel, select the duplicates selected frames icon ( ) to duplicate your frame.
5 Select the Move tool, and then select the Pick-A-Flavor layer. Click and drag the Pick-A-Flavor logo
to the bottom of the image area.
