If you do not have room to type all the text, you can click and drag the left middle handle towards
the left side of your image to expand the text area.
8 Press Ctrl+A (Windows) or Command+A (Mac OS) to select all the text.
You will now use a keyboard shortcut to adjust the tracking of the text. Tracking adjusts the space
between multiple letters.
9 Press and hold the Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) key, and then press the left arrow (left arrow)
key to decrease the spacing in between all the letters. You can do this to any amount that you want. In
this example, Alt/Option+left arrow was pressed three times.
Decrease the space in between the letters.
10 When you are finished editing your text, press Ctrl+Enter (Windows) or Command+Return (Mac
OS) to commit your changes. You can also click the Commit check box ( ) located on the right side
of the Options panel.
11 If necessary, select the Move tool to reposition the text area so it is centered vertically on the right
side of your image.
12 Choose File > Save. Keep this file open for the next part of the lesson.
Converting your text to a path
In many cases, you might need to send your artwork to someone who might not have the font family you
used installed on their computer. In these cases, you can convert your text to paths in Photoshop.
1 Select the Move tool ( ) from the Tools panel and make sure that you still have your Type layer selec-
ted in the Layer's panel.
2 From the Type menu, select Convert to Shape. Your type layer is now a shape layer. You can test this
by using your vector selection tools.
