Once you have placed the new layer return to the coffee stain.tif file and choose File > Close.
Notice that the new layer was automatically linked to church straightened layer. This is because a
linked layer was selected when the new image layer was added. To unlink the new layer, press and
hold the Alt/Option key and place the cursor between layer 1 and curves 1 in the layer stack. When
you see the unclip icon ( ) click.

Return to your Street Scene Comp image file and rename the layer
coffee stain
.

In the Layers panel choose Hard Light from the blending mode drop-down menu. This blending mode
adds a distressed/retro look to the image.

Press

to reduce the opacity of the coffee stain layer down to 50% to provide a nicely muted grade
while retaining the distressed look.

Using a color look-up table
The image now needs a final touch to give add more contrast. For this part of the lesson, you will use the
Color Lookup adjustment. This flexible tool offers a number of presets to give your image a different
look and feel.

Click the New fill or adjustment layer at the bottom of the Layers panel and select Color Lookup. The
Color Lookup Properties window appears and adds an adjustment layer.

Click the Load 3DLUTFile drop-down menu to bring up a list of options or 'looks'. For this exercise,
select filmstock_50.3dl.

Press the

key and then press the

key to drop the adjustment layer down to 80% to bring back some
of the detail and movement in the coffee stain layer below.
