In-Depth Information
next part of the lesson, you will find out how to change your Filter blend mode to Luminosity, which will
change the Unsharp mask to apply only to the neutrals in your image.
1 With the advps02_work.psd file still open, double-click the Double-click to edit filter blending op-
tions icon in the Layers panel ( ). The Blending Options dialog box appears.
2 From the Mode drop-down menu, select Luminosity and click OK. You might not see a difference in
this particular image, but try this on some of your own images to see whether they appear to have
specks of color throughout.
Change the blend mode to Luminosity.
3 Choose File > Save and File > Close.
Self study
Open any image that contains a neutral. Keep in mind that a neutral is any shade of gray. Some good im-
ages that you can use to practice color correction on your own should contain someone wearing a white
or gray shirt, or an image with a gray road, white building, etc.
Many photographers purchase gray cards and place them near their subjects when shooting im-
ages. The photographers then use that gray to balance the image and crop it out of the final im-
age.
Start by looking at your Info panel. Can you see whether the gray are balanced, or do they need some ad-
justment? If an adjustment is necessary, follow the steps in this lesson to change the image.
