attendance decided on what came to be known as the “Three No's”: they would refuse to make
peace with Israel, to recognize it, or to negotiate with it.
Another response came from the UN Security Council, which, on November 22, 1967,
agreed to Resolution 242, which set down the basis for a future agreement to achieve a just
and lasting peace. The resolution called for Israel to withdraw from territories captured in the
war — it did not specify all of those territories — in exchange for a complete end to the confl ict.
