If this is your first time using SketchUp or you have not dis-
abled its startup screen; you also can choose templates from
the startup screen.
Delete the default model
Click on the model person that will be in the workplane and delete it
pressing the Delete key on your keyboard. ( Figure 8-40 )

Create 3D text
Next, you will create 3D Text by selecting Tools 3D Text. Type your text
in the dialog box, then select a font. Set the extruded text option to 65mm
and click the Place button as shown in Figure 8-41 . Don't worry that the
entire object is too large to print, you will scale it down later in the tutorial.
Click on the origin to place your text there. Remember from Chapter 5
that the origin is where the X, Y and Z axes come together. In SketchUp,
this in indicated by the intersection of blue, red, and green lines (see
Figure 8-42 ).
Click on the zoom tool. Then drag the cursor up across the screen to
zoom in so you can see your text better.
