Add cubes
Select the Add Cubes tool (looks like stacked cubes). You can change
the colors of the blocks by using the color palettes at the bottom of the
screen (or any color of your choosing). When you actually print your
model, you can use any color filament you like.
You can add each cube individually or click and drag to create rows of
cubes. I recommend clicking and dragging to create many cubes at once,
as shown in Figure 8-6 , then using the eraser tool to delete stray cubes.
Select the heart
After you have created your heart, click on the select tool (looks like a
square with a dotted border, below the erase tool) and then click on your
heart. Click once to select (you will see a yellow border around the ob-
ject) and twice to see the border and dimensions of the object. The entire
heart object should have a yellow border around it as shown in Figure 8-7 .
Notice that when the object is selected, additional editing options are
made available through a gray toolbar that appears on the workplane
near your model.
If parts of the selected heart have individual borders, you will
run into problems when you try to print and parts may be
missing, even though your model looks fine when you load it
into MakerWare. Use the eraser tool to delete any individual
shapes outlined by the borders and redraw them.
