6.7.3 Case Report #3
Rotating-Platform TKR Mark III (Semi-constrained mobile-bearing knee
replacement that allows 90 o axial rotation, congruent weight-bearing flexion and
162 o of full flexion).
6.7.3.1 History
A 77 year old, 154 pound (69 kg), 5 foot 6 inch (168 cm) tall, diabetic white male
professor of mechanical engineering developed progressive pain and varus
deformity of nearly 30 o in his right knee over a 10 year period; range of motion
was 0 o to 110 o and he walked with a significant lateral thrust during heel strike
with a prominent, posteriorly displaced fibular head and1+ lateral instability. His
right hip was fused for tuberculosis at age 5 in Moscow, Russia, his birthplace.
