4 Press D on your keyboard to make sure you are back to the default black-and-white foreground and
background colors.
5 Press and hold the Shift key (to keep proportions correct), and click and drag in the image area to create
the light bulb shape layer.
6 If any effects were automatically applied, delete them by clicking the Effects sublayer and dragging it to
the Delete icon ( ) in the lower-right corner of the Layers panel.
7 If the Styles panel is not visible, choose Window > Styles. The Styles panel appears. It is easier to find
your saved style if you view the panel as a list, rather than as a thumbnail. You can change the view by
selecting the panel menu and choosing Small List.
8 Scroll down if necessary, and then choose my glow.
Choose to view by Small List.
Select your saved style, my glow.
The same style is applied to the light bulb shape.
9 Choose File > Save, and then choose File > Close to close your file.

Adjustment layers only affect the layers beneath them, leaving any layers on top of them in the Layers
panel unaffected. You can also press and hold your Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) key and click a
layer directly beneath the adjustment layer to clip the adjustment to just that layer, and not affect layers be-
neath the clipped layer.
1 To experiment with this concept, open the file named ps1004.psd .
2 Select the sky layer and create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer for it.
3 Drag the Saturation slider all the way to the left, effectively creating an RGB grayscale image.
4 Click and drag the adjustment layer up through the layers in the Layers panel to see how the position of
the adjustment layer affects the layers beneath.
