Choose File > Save to save the file. You can choose File > Close to close this file, or leave it open for
the Self study section of this lesson.
Self study
For this section, you can continue using the
ps0901_work
file that you started earlier. You can also choose
to open the
ps0901_done.psd
file to start from this point.
Adding shadows is an easy way to make your composite look more realistic. Since this section is a self-
study, you will not be taken step-by-step throughout this exercise. Use what you have learned in this lesson
to do the following tasks in the
ps0901_done
(or work) image.

Create a new blank layer on top of the
ps0901.psd
layer in the Layers panel.
•
Name the layer
shadow
.
•
Change your Brush tool to a large soft brush and paint a shadow on the new layer.
•
Play with either the opacity of the brush, or the opacity of the layer to create realistic shading under the
dog house and on the grass.

located in your
ps09lessons folder.
