In the next part of this lesson, you will use a layer style to make the ball look like it is sitting in the mouth
of the dog.
Using layer styles
In this next part of the lesson, you will use the Drop Shadow style to make the ball look like it is sitting in
the mouth of the dog.
1 Select the tennis ball layer, and then click the Add a layer style button ( ) in the Layers panel.
2 Select Drop Shadow; the Layer Style dialog box appears.
3 In the Layer Style dialog box, make sure that only Drop Shadow is checked in the Styles column to the
left, and then change these settings:
Opacity: 50 %
Angle: 90 degrees
Distance: 5 px
Spread: 0 (zero) %
Size: 15 px
4 Click the arrow to the right of the contour picker. The tooltip indicates Click to open Contour picker; se-
lect the option named Gaussian. Click anywhere inside the Layer Style window to confirm the Gaussi-
an contour selection, and then close the contour window.
Change the default style of the drop shadow.
5 Select New Style. This is so you can use this combination of style attributes again.
6 When the New Style dialog box appears, type shadow into the File name text field, and then click OK.
Name your saved style.
