Start painting directly on the teacher in the image.
Remember that you can press the right bracket ] or left bracket [ to increase or decrease the size of
the Quick Selection tool when needed.
2 With the selection still active, choose Select > Save Selection. Type teacher into the File name text field
and click OK.
The teacher is selected.

3 Choose Select > Deselect, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D (Windows) or Command+D (Mac OS).
Scaling the background
You will now use the Content-Aware Scale feature and protect your saved selection.
1 Confirm that you do not have anything selected in your image, and then select Edit > Content-Aware
Scale; transform handles appear, but do not make any changes yet.
2 Look for a Protect drop-down menu in the Options bar across the top of the work area and select your
saved selection, which you named teacher.
Select to protect your saved selection.
Note that an alternate method of protecting people from being scaled is available. Protect skin tones (
) is a button that is available in the Options bar, but you will use your saved selection instead.
3 If necessary, press Ctrl+ - (minus sign) or Command+ - (minus sign) two times so you can see about an
inch of additional workspace around your image.
4 Grab the right middle handle and start stretching your image to the right. Watch the ruler to see a guide
appear as you drag. Release the handle when you are approximately at the 5˝ mark on the ruler.
