Lesson 7: Using Content-
Aware Tools in Photoshop
Over the last several versions, Photoshop has added incredible tools
and features that are aware of your image content. By using these
content-aware tools, you can ease the task of image retouching, re-
sizing, and moving. Your changes will also appear less obvious than
if you made them with the standard retouching tools.
What you'll learn in this lesson:
Using Content-Aware Scale
Using Content-Aware Fill
Using Content-Aware retouching
Using Content-Aware Move
Starting up
The content-aware tools available in Photoshop CC are not magic, but in many cases they work as though
they were. In this lesson, you discover how you can take advantage of the content-aware tools to add that
extra image space that you need, get rid of obstructing content, and more.
Before starting, make sure that your tools and panels are consistent by resetting your preferences. See “Re-
setting Adobe Photoshop CC preferences” in the Starting up section of this topic. You will work with sev-
eral files from the ps07lessons folder in this lesson. Make sure that you have loaded the pslessons folder
onto your hard drive from www.digitalclassroombooks.com/epub/photoshopcc . For more information, see
“Loading lesson files” in the Starting up section of this topic.
