The online business opportunities section of a website can be very
detailed and the ODA's version evolved over the duration of the pro-
gramme. In its simplest form, the business opportunities section of a
programme website should consist of at least fi ve simple pages, as
follows:
• a landing page, which informs the person browsing the internet where
they are and outlines what can be found in that specifi c section of the
programme's website;
• a section that covers 'What the programme is buying', briefl y setting
out in general terms the two categories of procurement related to the
programme: namely, direct and indirect supply chain opportunities.
Direct procurement opportunities relate to that expenditure spent by
the programme client with its contracted tier 1 suppliers. Indirect
procurement opportunities are those spent by the tier 1 and lower
supply chain tiers in the form of subcontracts;
• a section that sets out 'How the programme will be buying', which
contains links to internal or third-party sources for advertising emerg-
ing opportunities. For example, on publicly funded programmes it may
be appropriate to provide a link to Tenders Electronic Daily. If some
form of supplier interest registration is used this can be linked to an
e-sourcing tool. This section should also contain a link to the supplier
guide to allow users to download an electronic copy;
• a page entitled 'Current Opportunities', which consists of further
links to the opportunity slides described below. This allows interested
organisations to download copies of these documents and review off-
line, if necessary. The opportunity slides are owned and managed by
the programme supply chain team and should be updated on a regular
basis to refl ect the most recently approved tender lists and contract
awards for tier 1 contractors across the programme;
• a fi nal page on the business opportunities website should contain
access to any relevant programme policies and procedures that might
assist an interested supplier in understanding the programme's require-
ments, priorities and overarching policies. This page should equip
suppliers with the information they need to provide a comprehensive
response to direct contract opportunities when they arise.
One-to-one meetings, supplier guides and the business opportunities
section of the website are designed to overcome the possible barriers
that inhibit some potentially interested suppliers from becoming
