A WORD FROM THE WEATHERMAN
THUNDERSTORMS ARE COMMON in Florida. On summer afternoons such storms often
occurdaily,forcingthewaterparkstoclosetemporarily whilethethreatening weather
passes. If the storm is severe and prolonged, it can cause a great deal of inconvenien-
ce. The park may actually close for the day, launching a legion through the turnstiles
tocompete forspace ontheDisneyresortbuses.IfyoudependonDisneybuses,leave
the park earlier, rather than later, when you see a storm moving in. Most important
though, instruct your children to immediately return to home base at the sight of light-
ning or when they hear the first rumble of thunder.
Typhoon Lagoon
ATTRACTION | HEIGHT REQUIREMENT | WHAT TO EXPECT
BAY SLIDES | 60 inches and under | A miniature, two-slide version of Storm Slides, spe-
cifically designed for small children. Kids splash down into a far corner of the surf pool.
CASTAWAY CREEK | None | Half-mile lazy river in a tropical setting. Wonderful!
CRUSH 'N' GUSHER | 48 inches | Water roller coaster where you can choose from among
three slides: Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher, and Pineapple Plunger, ranging 410-420 feet
long. This thriller leaves you wondering what exactly happened—if you make it down in one
piece, that is. It's not for the faint of heart. If your kids are new to water-park rides, this is
not the place to break them in, even if they're tall enough to ride.
GANG PLANK FALLS | None | White-water raft flume in a multiperson tube.
