The WATER THEME PARKS
WALT DISNEY WORLD HAS TWO SWIMMING THEME PARKS . Typhoon Lagoon is the most
diverse Disney splash pad, while Blizzard Beach takes the prize for the most slides
and most bizarre theme (a ski resort in meltdown). Blizzard Beach has the best slides,
but Typhoon Lagoon has a surf pool where you can bodysurf. Both parks have excel-
lent and elaborate themed areas for toddlers and preschoolers.
BOB During summer and holiday periods, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard
Beach fill to capacity on weekdays and close their gates before 11 a.m.
Disney water parks allow one cooler per family or group, but no glass and no al-
coholic beverages. Both parks charge the following rental prices: towels are $2; lock-
ers are $8 small, $10 large (plus $5 refundable deposit); life jackets are available at
no cost. Strollers are welcome but are not available for rent. Admission costs for each
park are $53 per day for adults and $45 per day for children (ages 3-9).
