In-Depth Information
Gateway between France and the United Kingdom. You can walk or take a
boat back to your hotel.
• If you have a car in the Epcot lot, find a viewing spot at the Future World
end of World Showcase Lagoon (Showcase Plaza) and leave immediately
after IllumiNations ends. The problem is not the traffic in the parking lot—it
actually moves pretty well—it's making your way to, and finding, your
car. Make sure that you write down or take a picture of where you're
parked—this is not the time to rely on your memory. If you're parked near
the entrance, skip the tram and walk. If you walk, watch your children
closely and hang on to them for all you're worth. The parking lot is pretty
wild at this time of night.
EPCOT TOURING PLANS
OUR STEP-BY-STEP TOURING PLANS are field-tested, independently verified itineraries
that will keep you moving counter to the crowd flow and allow you to see as much
as possible in a single day with minimum time wasted in line. We present three Epcot
one-day touring plans specifically geared toward visiting with children. We also offer,
and recommend, a two-day touring plan that is much more relaxing and far less tiring.
Touring Epcot is much more strenuous and demanding than touring the other
theme parks. Epcot requires about twice as much walking. And, unlike the Magic
Kingdom, Epcot has no effective inpark transportation—wherever you want to go,
it's always quicker to walk. Our plans will help you avoid crowds and bottlenecks on
days of moderate to heavy attendance, but they can't shorten the distance you have
to walk. (Wear comfortable shoes.) On days of lighter attendance, when crowd condi-
tions aren't a critical factor, the plans will help you organize your tour.
We love Epcot, and because we spend so much time there, we really wanted our
small children to enjoy it too. The challenge was figuring out how to get the kids
connected to the theme or presentation at each pavilion, especially in Future World.
Let's face it—even with Test Track and Sum of All Thrills, a 7-year-old is only going
to take so much talk about hydroponic vegetables, nuclear fission, or communication
systems before tuning out.
