In-Depth Information
France, here we come! This truly lovely 18-minute movie will make you want to pack
your suitcase. An added bonus is that the showing is très civilizé , as you get to sit
down and rest your weary feet.
UNITED KINGDOM PAVILION
A BLEND OF ARCHITECTURE ATTEMPTS to capture Britain's city, town, and rural atmo-
spheres. One street alone has a thatched-roof cottage, four-story timber-and-plaster
building,apre-Georgianplasterbuilding,aformalPalladian exteriorofdressedstone,
and a city square with a Hyde Park bandstand (whew!). There are no attractions, but
don't miss The British Revolution. The band performs the greatest UK hits from the
Beatles to the music of Led Zeppelin and The Who. Alice in Wonderland and Mary
Poppins greet their fans outside the little English cottage.
If your child loves Mary Poppins, your best chance to meet her is here.
CANADA PAVILION
CANADA'S CULTURAL, NATURAL, AND architectural diversity are reflected in this large
and impressive pavilion. Older kids will be interested in the 30-foot-tall totem poles
that embellish a Canadian Indian village. Canada is also home to a sort of punk-
Celtic-country band called Off Kilter— yes, they wear kilts—that performs in front
of the showcase entrance. Check your entertainment schedule (Times Guide) for per-
formance times.
