Astro Orbiter
What it is Buck Rogers-style rockets revolving around a central axis. Scope and scale
Minor attraction. Fright potential Visually intimidating waiting area for a relatively tame
ride. Bottleneck rating 10. When to go Before 11 a.m. or the last hour the park is open.
Special comment This attraction is not as innocuous as it appears. Authors' rating Not
worth the wait; . Duration of ride 1½ minutes. Average wait in line per 100 people
ahead of you 13½ minutes. Loading speed Slow.
Parents, beware! If you're prone to motion sickness, this ride a) spins round and
round; b) is faster than Dumbo; and c) for added “fun,” a joystick lets you raise and
lower the rocket throughout your 1½-minute journey. We like to ride the Astro Orbit-
er at night. The combination of lighting and the view is spectacular.
I just went on this ride for the first time recently. You take an elevator up,
and you get to fly your own rocket ship. I like being up so high because you
can see pretty much all of Disney World from up there.
