In-Depth Information
Gran Fiesta Tour drift beneath a smoking volcano. With a choice of chips, tacos, and
other familiar items, picky children usually have no difficulty finding something to
eat. Be aware that the service is sometimes glacially slow. Coral Reef, with tables be-
side windows looking into The Seas' aquarium, offers a colorful mealtime diversion
for all ages. If your kids don't eat fish, Coral Reef also serves beef and chicken. The
downside is that the food is extremely expensive. For a more affordable splurge, for-
get lunch or dinner and drop in during off-hours for one of the Coral Reef's decadent
desserts. The San Angel Innis likewise overpriced but not in the same league as Coral
Reef. The Biergarten offers reasonable value, plus good food.
LILIANE Spice Road Table is my new favorite spot for watching IllumiNa-
tions . Read my review here: tinyurl.com/spiceroadtable .
Epcot's newest restaurant, while certainly not cheap, provides the added value of
a great location. Spice Road Table , situated along the edge of World Showcase La-
goon in the Morocco Pavilion, serves up Mediterranean-inspired small plates similar
to Spanish tapas, and its outdoor terrace and provides perfect views for IllumiNations
at night. Kids will like sitting outside, and the small plates can be shared. The entire
family will enjoy the fireworks while Mom and Dad have a nice glass of wine.
Be Our Guest Restaurant and Cinderella's Royal Table , both in Fantasyland,
are the hot tickets in the Magic Kingdom, but reservations are often well-nigh-impos-
sible to get. (At present, there are no characters at Be Our Guest.) Interestingly, other
Magic Kingdom full-service restaurants hold little appeal for children. For the best
combination offoodandentertainment, bookacharacter meal at The Crystal Palace .
From a strictly foodie standpoint, we think the best kids' fare is at the Liberty Tree
Tavern , and it's easy to book, too.
At Disney's Hollywood Studios , all ages enjoy the atmosphere and entertain-
ment at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant and the 50's Prime Time Cafe .
Unfortunately, the Sci-Fi's food is close to dismal except for dessert, and the Prime
Time's is uneven. Theme aside, children enjoy the character meals at Hollywood &
Vine , and the pizza at Mama Melrose's never fails to please.
