STRENGTHS

• Iconic architecture; the only hotel that the monorail goes through

WEAKNESS
• Monorail aside, the theme leaves children cold
• No on-site child care
THE CONTEMPORARY RESORT has a sleek, almost Asian look, although the
pyramid structure itself is a period piece, of course. And it has lots to offer the active
family: six lighted tennis courts, three swimming pools, a health club, volleyball
courts, a beach, and a marina that rents sailboats of various sizes—you must be at
least 18 years old, which helps limit the traffic a little—and offers parasailing and wa-
terskiing. Guest rooms are quite stunning and, in our opinion, the nicest to be found
at Walt Disney World. There's no compelling theme, but then show us a child who
isn't wowed by monorails tearing though the inside of a hotel. Bay Lake Tower is a
high-rise Disney Vacation Club property situated on Bay Lake between the Contem-
porary Resort and the Magic Kingdom. Like other DVC developments, it offers one-,
