COMMUTING TO AND FROM THE THEME PARKS
FOR VISITORS LODGING INSIDE WALT DISNEY WORLD With three important excep-
tions, the fastest way to commute from your hotel to the theme parks and back is in
your own car. And although many Walt Disney World guests use the Disney Trans-
portation System and appreciate not having to drive, based on timed comparisons, it's
almost always less time-consuming to drive. The exceptions are these: (1) commuting
to the Magic Kingdom from the hotels on the monorail (Grand Floridian, Polynesian,
Bay Lake Tower, and Contemporary Resorts); (2) commuting to the Magic Kingdom
from any Disney hotel by bus or boat; and (3) commuting to Epcot on the monorail
from the Polynesian Resort via the Transportation and Ticket Center.
If you stay at the Polynesian, you can catch a direct monorail to the Magic King-
dom, and by walking 100 yards or so to the Transportation and Ticket Center, you can
catch a direct monorail to Epcot. At the nexus of the monorail system, the Polynesi-
an is certainly the most convenient resort. From either the Magic Kingdom or Epcot,
you can return to your hotel quickly and easily whenever you want. The downside: A
standard room costs $482-$760 a night depending on the season.
