Foz Velha
The old town of Foz, where the Douro River intercepts the Atlantic Ocean, is home to the
boutique restaurant, Foz Velha. Foz Velha is considered one of the best in Portugal because of
its remarkable Port wine selection and the many culinary talents of Chef Marco Gomes. Inside
Foz Velha, guests are greeted with a chic dining room of vibrant pinks and purples and
intimate lighting provided by handsome chandeliers. Every dish is expertly crafted and
beautifully plated, giving Foz Velha its signature approach to dining.
For those with cash to burn, sample one of the oldest Port wines in the house; a 1942 bottle.
There are also bottles from the 1960s and 1990s to satisfy your inner sommelier. Here is
where traditional Portuguese food gets a new look and where your taste buds will explode.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner: Monday 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Tuesday through
Thursday 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 12:30 p.m. to 3
