In-Depth Information
content sessions to discussing their Web portfolios and how the Web portfolio
is affecting their lives and success in finding work for hire.
Blogs are personal Web sites that provide updated headlines and news articles
of other sites that are of interest to the user, and also may include journal entries,
commentaries and recommendations compiled by the user. Blogs act as
personal diaries and can be considered a type of Web portfolio. They are also
ads that engage curiosity about the author and the products they might be
pitching. Keeping with the humanist, qualitative experience that the Web
portfolio can deliver and combining it with the positivist reliability of seeing and
understanding someone abilities and qualifications, the Web portfolio ultimately
exists to communicate with the user to accomplish the goal of contact, and
reciprocal communication that may lead to favorable outcomes, which trans-
lates into work for hire or sales of some kind. The Web portfolio will provide
a responsive environment for the user to place an order for a relationship.

share the same goals and have a need to communicate. Having a portfolio in the
future will help you get “in” and promote yourself for opportunities in the
knowledge worker age, the conceptual age, and as Dr. Covey revels, the age
of wisdom.
The Web portfolio will also emerge as personal mass media advertising. The
Web portfolio will become a technological norm that will provide an outlet for
culture and personal environment. Because the Web portfolio is a media it will
shape perceptions. In fact, its goal will be to persuade a user to engage in
communication and hopefully will cause a reaction that will be favorable and will
result and work for hire. This process will be critical to the endeavors of the
knowledge worker. The knowledge worker will have to add value to the Web
portfolio by making it a value added proposition. This will be done by creating
an online environment which benefits the user as well as sells the author. This
