In-Depth Information
This case study examines the teaching Web portfolio of P.A.R, created by an
elementary school teacher, her students and members of the Carnegie Foun-
dation, and uses the proposed 10 criteria for teacher Web portfolios as a rubric
and assessment measure.
Audience/Purpose/Persuasion
Audience:
This educational Web portfolio appeals to anyone interested in P.A.R. On her
homepage, E.W.'s pictures and buttons link to information about P.A.R.
Purpose:
E.W.'s purpose is to inform the public about P.A.R., and her intent is to gain
public awareness and support. This is identifiable because the entire portfolio's
content discusses and describes P.A.R. and not the individual teacher's
accomplishments, credentials, philosophies, and so on.
Persuasion:
E.W. attempts to convince her audience that P.A.R. is a beneficial teaching
method. Buttons link to components of P.A.R. and its benefits to students.
Contact Information
E.W. does not provide contact information on this teacher Web portfolio.
Biography/Credentials
There are brief biographical accounts in E.W.'s narrative found on the
homepage, however, there is no information regarding her credentials as a
teacher. Again, this appears to indicate that the purpose of this portfolio is to
promote P.A.R. and not the teacher.
Educational Philosophy/Pedagogy
E.W. discusses her educational philosophies and pedagogy about P.A.R. in her
descriptive narrative, found on the home page.
