Case Study #5: Teacher Web Portfolio of Participatory
Action Research
This is a case study of a randomly selected teacher Web portfolio about a
teaching methodology called Participatory Action Research or P.A.R. Ac-
cording to the authors and creators of the Web portfolio, P.A.R. is
…an alternative research methodology that combines research,
educational work, and social action. This type of research is
viewed as a form of social action because community members
identify the issues and these are used as the basis for increasing
literacy skills. The issue or problem that is identified by the
group is studied in a collaborative manner. Therefore, the
project serves many purposes. The participants acquire literacy
skills while they take action in critiquing and resolving relevant
issues. (http://www.goingpublicwithteaching.org/ewolk/
