Step 1: Determine the Total Amount of Rise or Drop on the Slope - It was a simple task
to measure the slope, because the site of the new raised beds was next to the house and the
amount of drop was easily measured by referencing the the siding. I have a 6 foot level and
also took measurements every two feet to see how consistent the slope was. I measured the
drop next to the house and also 3 feet away from the house. In this case, the total drop was
about 32 inches from the upper end of the proposed bed to the lower end.
