Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Disney's Wilderness Lodge (“WL”), near the Magic Kingdom, is inspired by the great U.S.
National Park Lodges, and celebrates them and the mountain West. Its astonishing theming
begins with its jaw-dropping lobby and continues with extensive detail everywhere in the
resort. Nearby is the Disney Vacation Club Villas at the Wilderness Lodge, also available
to all for rent. Guest services, a shop, and most dining are accessed from the lobby. Most
rooms are in two wings off the lobby that enclose a mountain-stream-themed courtyard that
ends in the delightful main pool. A smaller pool is between the WL and the Villas.
The Wilderness Lodge is on Bay Lake near the Magic Kingdom, which is a ten-minute
boat ride away. Boats also connect the Wilderness Lodge with the nearby Contemporary
Resort and Fort Wilderness, giving easy access to the great dining options at those resorts.
The other theme parks, water parks, and Downtown Disney are accessed via shared buses
that can take a while. The Wilderness Lodge is well located for a Magic Kingdom-focused
trip.
The exterior architecture, lobby, detailing, and pools make the Wilderness Lodge an as-
tonishingly kid-appealing resort. Adults enjoy it as well, although they might find its rooms
smaller than expected.
Standard guest rooms at WL, with about 340 square feet, are tied with those at Disney's
Animal Kingdom Lodge as the smallest deluxe rooms on property (they are also the least
expensive such rooms). No five-person rooms are available except in the Villas—standard
rooms sleep four on two queens. You'll also find a table and two chairs, mini-fridge, TV,
dresser, closet, and a coffee-maker. The divided bath includes two sinks and a hair dry-
