How to Pick Your Disney Resort Hotel
The most important factor is budget. Standard value resort rooms range in price from $96/
weeknight at the All-Stars during value season all the way up to $224/night at Art of An-
imation over Christmas. Standard rooms at the deluxes start at $320 at Animal Kingdom
Lodge in the value season and go up to $856/night for a standard view at the Grand Flor-
idian over the holidays. Larger rooms, better locations, and better views cost even more.
There are five different types of Disney resorts:
VALUE RESORTS Lowest prices, smallest rooms, fewest amenities, no table service
restaurants. (Value resort “Family Suite” rooms, available at Art of Animation and
All-Star Music, come in at about twice the size of a standard room, but cost more
than twice as much.)
MODERATE RESORTS Middle-of-the-road prices, room sizes, and amenities. Table
service restaurants at all but Port Orleans French Quarter.
DELUXE RESORTS Highest prices, largest rooms, most amenities, plentiful dining.
DISNEY VACATION CLUB RESORTS There are multiple deluxe-level room types: “Stu-
dios” are similar to deluxe rooms; “Villas” are larger and have full kitchens, and,
at the two-bedroom and larger sizes, sleep eight people plus.
THE CAMPSITES AT DISNEY'S FORT WILDERNESS RESORT Campgrounds for tent and RV
campers (the Cabins at Fort Wilderness are grouped in the moderate class).
The vast majority of first time visitors stay in one of the first three resort types. The table
below shows more detailed distinctions among them. Take heed of the notes at the bottom
of the table…none of this is as easy as we'd all wish!
