In-Depth Information
The Disney-owned hotels offer a laundry list of unique perks that third-party operators
could never dream of providing. The most advantageous perks include:
Free airport transport to and from your hotel via Disney's Magical Express.
Free and frequent transport from your hotel to the parks, waterparks, and Down-
town Disney.
Free parking at both your hotel and the parks.
The right to book dining ten days further out than non-Disney guests, which can
be critical for high-demand meals like dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant.
The right to book FastPass+ reservations for key attractions beginning 60 days in
advance of arrival. All non-Disney guests except those staying at the Swan or Dol-
phin can book only up to 30 days before use—which may mean some attractions
aren't available for pre-booking, and others may be available only at less conveni-
ent times.
Access to the various Disney Dining Plans, which are a convenient budgeting tool
if your family eats the way they are designed to feed you, and may save you a bit
if your kids are younger than ten and you plan on several character meals.
Keeping Disney magic real and definite: while it's easy to read a list of definable
resort perks, it's more difficult to describe to a first-time visitor how it feels to
be caught up in the completely immersive atmosphere of the Walt Disney World
bubble. There are very few vacation destinations in the world that truly allow
visitors to escape the harsh realities of life and instead be immersed in the fun
and fantasy of a make-believe world. An inclusive on-property stay offers just
that—from the time Magical Express picks you up at the airport to the moment
they drop you off again, there's nothing to worry about at Disney World. Just keep
your credit card handy.
The Perk We Rarely Recommend
Extra Magic Hours (EMH) are one of the best-known perks offered to guests staying at
Disney-owned resorts, as well as at the Swan, Dolphin, Shades of Green, and Downtown
Disney Hilton. EMH are early or late periods—most commonly at one park each
day—when only guests at these hotels can ride the open Disney World attractions.
There are two varieties of Extra Magic Hours: morning and evening. Morning Extra Ma-
gic Hour is limited to one hour immediately before a park's regular open. Evening Extra
Magic Hours are two hours long and begin immediately after a park's regular close. Most
popular rides operate during both Morning and Evening Extra Magic, though the selection
is wider during the evening. The participating attractions are indicated in Chapter 6. At
least one park offers Extra Magic Hours virtually every day, with the most common sched-
ule being:
Sunday: Animal Kingdom morning
Monday : Hollywood Studios evening
Tuesday : Epcot morning
