COST Most of January enjoys the least expensive resort pricing of the year, but January
1-2, 2015, with Holiday season pricing, are among the most expensive nights of the year.
The Friday-Sunday periods of the WDW Marathon (Jan. 8-10) and Martin Luther King Jr.
weekends see average pricing. (See earlier in this chapter for more on pricing.)
WEATHER It's the coldest month in Orlando, with erratic temperatures and an average high
of 69 and an average low of 50 degrees. Historically, it rains on 22% of days.
CROWDS Many U.S. school districts continue winter break through the first week, causing
some of the highest crowds of the year to persist through the first Saturday of the new
year. Crowds are low the rest of the month, with two major exceptions. Marathon Weekend
brings in thousands of runners and their families, but they have surprisingly little impact
on theme park crowds, resulting in only average crowds. Martin Luther King Jr. weekend
crowds are well above average and the highest crowd level we'll see until President's Day
weekend in the middle of February. It's best avoided.
