Prices and When to Go
The major prices at Walt Disney World that vary by season are hotel room costs. “Season”
does not mean anything so simple as fall or winter. Disney changes prices much more fre-
quently than that, and has a metastasizing group of invented seasonal names—e.g., not just
Value Season, but also Value Season 1 and Value Season 2—to describe its price levels.
Disney's price season names (excluding variants like Value Season 2 and some holiday and
special event weekends) are
• Value
• Fall
• Regular
• Summer
• Peak
• Easter
• Holiday
The first two seasons are always the lowest-priced, and the last three always the highest.
Disney groups hotels into value, moderate, and deluxe resorts (more on this in the next
chapter). At Disney's value resorts, Summer rates are much higher than Regular rates; at
its moderates, Summer and Regular are about the same over a multi-day visit; and at de-
luxe resorts, Summer rates are lower than Regular rates. Moreover, deluxe seasons change
according to a different calendar in the summer and fall than value and moderate seasons
do.

Disney World over the year in 2015. It does not refer to the seasons themselves, as it's much
more useful to show actual prices. The chart picks an example from each group, and to
smooth out fluctuations that come from weekend upcharges, averages prices over an eight-
night stay.
