In-Depth Information
may be the entire group or just a few people. Simply repeat the FastPass+ booking
process for each group if booking two or more separate groups.
• Then pick both the park and the date. One of two types of screens then opens here,
depending on whether or not the park is tiered. In the tiered parks, the FastPass+
rides are split into two groups. In the first group (Tier One) pick only one ride from
among those offered, and in the second group (Tier Two), pick only two. At the
non-tiered parks, pick any three experiences from the options listed.
• Then click Next to be offered four different options, labeled 1, 2, 3 and 4, one of
which will also be labeled “Best!”. Not all options may include all of your selec-
tions. Pick the one that includes all of your selections but starts latest in the even-
ing. This will make it easier to change times to the afternoon later because it re-
duces overlapping experiences. Save it.
• As we learned in Chapter 6, booking FastPass+ times in the late morning and
early afternoon is advantageous because lines and crowds will have peaked and
FastPass+ will save us the most time. There's no reason to use most FastPass+ ex-
periences in the early morning when standby waits are short. We originally selec-
ted evening times so we have the entire afternoon free to change the times without
any worry that My Disney Experience will say that times are unavailable because
we already have an experience booked in that slot. Unless it's your departure day
or you have afternoon/evening plans elsewhere, we'll change the times so they're
convenient in the late morning and afternoon. On the confirmation screen, click
“Modify”. (If you're modifying selections at a later date, click the My Disney Ex-
perience dropdown menu and choose “FastPass+” and then “Update FastPass+.)
• Click the party members to make the change for, then move the FastPass+ around
based on your desired timing. Because FastPass+ can't be double-booked at any
time that overlaps, a couple of changes may have to be made to a single ride—first
to move it out of the way of another FastPass+, then to move it back to a time
newly vacated. You'll be offered the most desirable times if you initially book your
experiences first thing in the morning or at the very end of the night.
• Then, if needed, move on to the rest of the party for that day. When done with the
day, move on to the next day.
Times and experiences may be changed as often as wished (limited, though, to what is
available at the time you change them), up through the last hour the theme park is open on
the day you're visiting. If you run into problems, try tech support at (407) 939-5277.
MagicBands
For those staying at a Disney-owned resort, MagicBands play many roles on a trip. Most
importantly, they are room keys, park tickets, the link to using your Dining Plan credits,
the link to FastPass+, and, if charging privileges are enabled, a means to charge back to the
room.
They contain no personal data—rather, all they have encoded within them is a unique
numeric identifier which Disney uses to link up databases in its own systems behind the
scenes.
