In-Depth Information
• Think carefully about what is really getting in the way of going during one of the
less expensive seasons. Is it possible to pull the kids out of school to visit when
crowds and prices are much lower?
Because Disney controls the entire supply of theme park tickets, discounts from reputable
sources are slim. Check UndercoverTourist.com for some of the best discounts on multi-
day tickets.
Fortunately, major savings may be available on other aspects of your vacation:
• Keep an eye out for deals available to the general public—typically room rate dis-
counts, but sometimes a version of the Dining Plan for free—especially in Septem-
ber. Find them at YourFirstVisit.net/deals or at Disney World's Special Offer web
page as they are announced. These discounts are usually available to Disney Visa
card holders a few days before they become available to everyone else. Visit Dis-
neyRewards.com for more information.
• Use special discounts that you quality for, the most valuable of which is the Armed
Forces Salute. See MilitaryDisneyTips.com for more. There may also be discounts
for Florida residents, Annual Passholders, international guests, and others.
• Access Disney Vacation Club rooms for a lot less by renting points from owners
who won't be using them—this is a particular boon for large families, who have
the most difficulty finding Disney-owned accommodations at reasonable prices.
Visit DVCRequest.com for pricing and options.
• Consider staying offsite, especially with large groups. As noted in Chapter 5, there
are some takeaways on the convenience side of things, but it may be the most vi-
able option for some groups, and the savings can be substantial. It's hard to find
reasonably priced Disney-owned options on-site for groups larger than four people,
and even more difficult for groups larger than five. You'll find lots of ideas at
YourFirstVisit.net/large-families , but the least expensive way to stay will be offs-
ite.
For groups that will fit into a four person standard Little Mermaid room at Disney's value
resort Art of Animation, the chart below illustrates what it will cost two adults, one kid
older than ten, and one aged from three to nine, to stay for various trip lengths during the
Fall 2015 price season.
