In-Depth Information
OVERVIEW Run more than 35,000 times over the last 40-or-so years, Hoop-Dee-Doo is as
much of a Walt Disney World institution as chicken nuggets and Peter Pan's Flight. While
expensive at first blush, your admission includes all-you-care-to-eat fried chicken, ribs,
corn, salad, baked beans, corn bread, and strawberry shortcake, in addition to unlimited soft
drinks, sangria, house wine, and beer. And, of course, the two-hour, kid-friendly Western
musical remains the star of the show. Expect a lot of banjos, sing-a-longs, and audience
participation in what ends up being a hokey, joke-filled experience where nobody takes
themselves seriously. Take the boat from Magic Kingdom if possible for an easy walk to
Pioneer Hall. Those arriving via Disney bus will need to transfer to the internal shuttle for
transportation to the show, which can take an extra 20 minutes.

ically from early April until early November. Shows are usually scheduled at 6:30pm on
Thursdays and Saturdays, with the possibility that additional days will be available from
June through August. DDP 2 credits. DISCOUNTS 20% TiW.
PRICES $60 adults, $36 kids.
OVERVIEW Mickey's Backyard Barbecue takes place in a roofed but otherwise open-air
(thus not air-conditioned) space. The show features a country band, line dancing, and inter-
actions with Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Goofy. Most guests will get more entertain-
ment for their money from Hoop-Dee-Doo, and any number of other meals provide better
(and less expensive) chances to meet Mickey and friends. Line-dancers and families with
young, excitable kids enjoy the experience most. Take the boat from Magic Kingdom if
possible for an easy walk to the Barbecue. Those arriving via Disney bus will need to trans-
fer to the internal shuttle for transportation to the show, which can take an extra 20 minutes.

OVERVIEW Consistently the cheapest Disney World buffet at breakfast and dinner, with an
inexpensive a la carte lunch served in between, Trail's End serves up country cooking in
Disney's most casual sit-down restaurant. Breakfast is satisfying with a spread of the usual
Mickey waffles, pancakes, pastries, bacon, sausage, etc., in addition to unique items like
Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict and Brisket Mash. Lunch is a nice selection of southern favor-
ites like Shrimp and Grits and Pulled Pork Sandwiches, in addition to burgers and sand-
wiches that cost only a dollar or two more than quick service. The dinner buffet consists
of much of the same food as the much more expensive family-style dinner at Whispering
