addition to walking you through each step of the planning process. Each of the park “Cheat
Sheets” in the previous chapter has recommended counter-service options.
Our recommendations are not set in stone. Families with much younger kids may wish
to cut some of the non-character meals and replace them with character meals. Families
with teens might want to do the opposite. Substitutions can be based on the graphic be-
low—which ranks the Disney World theme park and resort table service options based on
kid and adult appeal—or on the capsule reviews that follow at the end of this chapter.
In the graphic, high adult appeal is based on “date night” criteria: a restaurant having
fine dining, fine service, and a lovely setting. High kid appeal means that a restaurant has
the elements that make the rest of Disney World a joy for kids—playful action, characters,
and a fun setting—and also has a menu suited to picky eaters. By these criteria, it's hard for
a restaurant to appeal to both. Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom comes closest, and if it
had a better kids menu for picky eaters, would be ranked with high appeal for both groups.
Because kids and adults vary, it's best to use the chart and the reviews at the end of this
chapter together.
