In-Depth Information
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Disney's newest major theme park is also its easiest to tour. Each of the headliner attrac-
tions (except the over-hyped Kali River Rapids) enjoys healthy capacity and relatively
short peak waits. On the downside, the park's circular layout may require backtracking to
visit all the rides and shows. The Animal Kindom Cheat Sheet at the end of this chapter
minimizes walking and waits as much as possible.
With FastPass+, a late arrival at Animal Kingdom can be just as effective as an early ar-
rival. Animal Kingdom tends to empty by 4pm, leaving waits at the major attractions short
from then until close. This may be tempered somewhat by the fact that Animal Kingdom
often closes by 5 or 6pm. Still, Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, and the DinoLand
attractions all see reduced waits in these periods, to the point where ride vehicles often
leave partially empty because there aren't enough people around to fill a vehicle.
FastPass+ at Animal Kingdom
Nine attractions at Animal Kingdom offer FastPass+, from among which you can pre-book
three. On hot days, FastPass+ is best used at Kali River Rapids in the afternoon when waits
are longest and temperatures highest. For guests that need to meet Mickey, The Adventur-
ers Outpost Meet and Greet has a limited capacity and is another priority. The best uses on
cooler days without Mickey are at Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest.

Arriving at Animal Kingdom
Arriving 45 minutes before open puts you in the best position to enjoy the shortest waits
possible first thing in the morning as well as have an opportunity to re-ride Expedition
Everest, DINOSAUR, Kali River Rapids, or other attractions a second time in the standby
line before considerable waits begin to develop. Believe it or not, a 9am arrival is actually
“late” and thousands of guests will already be in line at Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition
Everest before you even scan your ticket.
Almost all guests arrive by Disney bus or their own transportation. Guests parking early
can easily walk to the main entrance. Guests arriving later and parking farther out have the
