In-Depth Information
The second school of thought is to schedule FastPass+ in the late morning and afternoon
when it will save the most time and take advantage of short standby waits at most attrac-
tions in the early morning. Our advice is to begin scheduling FastPass+ as early as 10:30am
at a high priority attraction like Soarin' or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. While availability for
a 4th FastPass+ will be worse later in the afternoon, it's likely that the same attractions that
were available at 11:30am will be available at 1:30pm.
If you're planning to schedule your first FastPass+ for 9-10am, plan to use it as close
to 10am as possible to save the most time and take advantage of short standby waits else-
where before then.
Finally, keep in mind that scheduling a night-time spectacular in advance inhibits your
ability to make additional FastPass+ selections at the in-park kiosks earlier in the day. For
example, if you select IllumiNations, Mission: SPACE, and Spaceship Earth as your ini-
tial three selections, you won't be able to select a 4th FastPass+ choice because you won't
use your third selection until the very end of the night. IllumiNations, the first Fantasmic!,
Main Street Electrical Parade, and Wishes are rarely available as a 4th selection. So there
are some tradeoffs should you wish to take advantage of the reserved FastPass+ viewing
areas at the night-time entertainment.
Designing Your Own Walt Disney World Itinerary
The art of itinerary design has three parts: dividing your time among the parks, picking the
best days to see each park, and shaping what you do each day to minimize time spent wait-
ing in line.
Allocating Your Time Among the Parks
Chapter 3 covered in-depth how to divide your time depending on party size, makeup, and
length of vacation. As a refresher, most guests will spend the most time at Magic Kingdom,
with Epcot being a close second except for those traveling with the youngest children. Most
guests spend about a day each at Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, though guests
spending just a few days at Disney World may not have time for all four parks.
Picking the Best Days to Visit the Parks
There are several factors that contribute to the decision on which theme park to visit each
day, including expected crowds and nighttime entertainment. Daily advice is available at
EasyWDW.com/easy-guide beginning about six and a half months ahead of a given date.
For each day of your visit, you'll find overall crowd levels, recommended parks, night-time
entertainment, and a daily explanation of what to expect.
In general, the longer a theme park is open and the more nightly entertainment it offers,
the busier it will be. This is particularly true at Magic Kingdom, which can see wildly
different operating hours and entertainment offerings, particularly during Mickey's Party
Season from early September through the third week in December. It's not uncommon for
Magic Kingdom to be open to regular tickets only from 9am-7pm and offer no evening
fireworks or parades three or four days per week, while the other days it's open as late as
