less reliant on presuppositions. Great research challenges remain in terms of exploring the
capture and representation of multiple 'world views' of a landscape and accommodating
the varied historical and cultural dimensions which may be present. Less ambitious perhaps
would be to consider how existing knowledge relating to the data and processing involved in
creating a virtual landscape can be communicated effectively via metadata to better inform
the viewer of what they are actually looking at.
