VRML was chosen as a development tool as it allowed open, extensible formats to be used
and the 'built' worlds could be constructed in web browsers that included a VRML plug-in.
VRML is an extensible, interpreted language and an industry-standard scene description
language. It is used for three-dimensional scenes, or worlds, on the internet. To produce
three-dimensional content two-dimensional components are defined/drawn and the view-
point specified. Once this is defined the drawing package renders the three-dimensional
