Modifying the style sheet
8. Save your changes to the file, and then return to the W3C validator page in your
Web browser. Refresh or reload the works.htm page, and then verify that the
number of errors in the page has dropped to three.
The next error reported by the validator is:
Line 32, column 29 : there is no attribute “target”
ƒƒƒƒƒƒ<aƒhref=”#”ƒtarget= new”>ReviewƒCart</a>
The target attribute is not supported in XHTML strict, so it will have to be removed
from the Web page. This means that if Tom wants to work with XHTML strict, he will not
be able to direct his hypertext links to new browser windows or tabs.
To remove the target attribute:
1. Return to the works.htm file in your Web browser.
2. Delete the attribute
target=”_new”ƒ
from the hypertext links for Review Cart and Check Out located at the top of the
Web page body.
3. Save your changes to the file, and then reload or refresh the W3C validator page
in your Web browser. The number of errors in the Web page has dropped to two.
