In-Depth Information
The results from DSC and TSC have shown that both techniques can
be used to investigate the molecular mobility in polyurethane coatings as well
as to study the aging procedures in polymeric coatings.
Clausse, et al., [11] used calorimetry and DSC to characterize the
thermal transitions of thermosetting paints containing organic solvents.
They concluded that the study provided a correlation between the T g ,
specific heat ( C p ), and the degree of cross-linking of the mixture. The degree
of cross-linking increased as the C p decreased.
Sebastian [12] studied paint-shop waste disposal from metallurgical
factory painting houses by DTA and TG. Figure 2 shows the DTA and TG
curves of the dry and wet wastes. It was reported that characteristics of the
curves were in good agreement with the physico-chemical compositions of
the wastes. The enthalpy of reactions was also obtained by integrating DTA
curves.
