USPS mailing services are classified by type of mailing
and delivery time. bulk discounts are also available. The
following is a list of basic rate classifications and the
delivery options available within each. (The services and
their requirements listed below are current at the time

Choose a box with enough
room for cushioning materi-
als. If you are reusing a box,
cover all previous labels and
markings with heavy black
marker or adhesive labels.
Tape the opening of your
box and reinforce all seams
with 2-inch (5.08 mm) -wide
tape. Use clear or brown
packaging tape, reinforced
packing tape or paper tape.
Do not use cord, string, or
twine. They can get caught in
mail-processing equipment.

Express:
Premium delivery service provides guaranteed
one- to two-day delivery for documents that will fit within
USPS express envelopes. Pricing is calculated on weight
and distance. Signature proof of delivery and tracking is
available.
Priority:
ensures an average two- to three-day delivery for
packages up to 70 lb. (31 .752 kg) and measuring up to
108 inches (2743 mm) in combined length and distance
around the thickest part. Pricing is calculated on weight
and distance.
First Class Mail:
Used primarily for correspondence, this
option is available for letters, envelopes, and postcards
weighing 13 ounces (368.5435 gm) or less. Delivery is
ensured within one to three days.
Periodical Mail:
Newspapers, magazines, and newsletters
qualify for this discounted rate with an average of one- to
seven-day delivery. No special services are available for
this option.
Business Reply Mail:
This service lets the sender pay
for the recipient's response by establishing an account
that covers their mailing costs. Users pay an annual fee,
receive a permit, a permit number, and pay an additional
amount for each response they receive.
