depend on the brain's normal output pathways of peripheral nerves and muscles. We then
explained the basis of the different techniques for measuring brain activity, highlighting
for each the pros and cons. We then described the historical excursus from the 1970s to
the most recent advances and applications. Furthermore, we described the practical uses
of BCIs, which are communication, motor restoration, and clinical treatment of diseases
that are not pharmacologically tractable. Finally, we analyzed the perspective of a center
for technical aid and the requirements to assess the assignment and evaluation process to
match BCIs and patients.
