In-Depth Information
LCA.methodology.is.divided.into.four.phases,.namely,.goal.and.scope.dei-
nition,.inventory.analysis,.impact.assessment,.and.interpretation,.as.shown.
in.Figure.11.2.and.summarized.later.
Goal and Scope Definition
The.irst.phase.of.goal.and.scope.deinition.is.designed.to.determine.the.aim.
and.boundaries.for.the.LCA.study.
The.system.boundaries.are.the.points.where.materials.become.waste.and.
where.waste.is.transformed.to.inert.waste,.leachate,.and.gas..The.major.envi-
ronmental.impact.for.landill.includes.leachate.treatment.but.does.not.cover.
waste.separation,.collection,.and.transportation.
Inventory Analysis
The.second.phase.collects.the.data.for.a.unit.process.that.include.gas.emis-
sions,. water. emissions,. the. public. expectations,. waste. characteristics. and.
composition,.and.cost.management..The.data.are.run.on.SimaPro.
Impact Assessment
The.impact.assessment.focuses.on.e-waste.impacts.in.landill.that.affect.the.
environment.and.the.society..This.includes.investigating.the.effects.of.eco-
toxicity. on. the. ecosystem.. Eco-indicator. 99. methodology. is. used. to. assess.
environmental.impacts.
Interpretation
To.sum.up.the.LCA.phase,.the.process.under.investigation.is.assessing.the.
environmental. impact.. The. environmental. performance. can. then. be. used.
