3.27.2 The Stroke Tab
The stroke method drop down menu provides different options (Figure 3.61). Remove the
UV sphere and add a plane object to the scene. Subdivide five or six times to produce verti-
ces. You must be in object mode to delete the sphere and then tab to edit mode to subdivide
the plane. After subdividing, change back to sculpt mode—make sure you have viewport
shading type “Textured” selected.
Clicking the LMB and dragging the brush across the surface of the mesh with “Add”
selected in the brush tab deforms the mesh in the positive direction as the brush is moved
(Figure 3.62). This applies to all stroke methods. In most cases, dragging over a deformed
area produces an accumulative effect even though the “Accumulate” box in the brush tab is
not ticked (Figure 3.63). In these screenshots, the brush strength value is 0.963.
Clicking the LMB and dragging with any stroke method produces a deformation with
the exception of the “Drag Dot” and “Anchored” methods. With “Drag Dot,” the initial
deformation upon clicking is duplicated and moved to a new location when the mouse is
dragged (Figure 3.64). With “Anchored,” the deformation is produced (increased) on the
same spot (Figure 3.65).
