20.1 Making a Movie
Movies are made by piecing together video clips,
which are the short segments of video you pro-
duce when you render an animation. It follows
that you can only make a movie when you have
video clips saved on your computer. How to
render animation to video has been covered in
Chapter 9 and I will assume that you have some
clips saved. Make a note of where you have saved
your clips and make sure you are conversant with
the file browser window.
The first step in the moviemaking process is to
set the video output format and to set the file path
to the folder where you want to save your movie
file. Start Blender, and in the default screen ar-
rangement go to the properties window - “Ren-
der” button (Figure 20.1). In the “Output” tab, set
your file path by clicking on the “Browse Fold-
er” button. In the file browser, navigate to your
folder. Next, set your movie video file type (the
