In either case, you must select “Domain.” The cube in the 3D window changes to an orange
outline indicating that a domain has been applied.

Create the flow object.
Now that we
have defined the volume that will con-
tain smoke, we will add an object from
which the smoke will be emitted. Dese-
lect the domain cube, add a plane object,
and make sure it's inside the domain cube
(Figure 12.101). With the plane selected,
go to the properties window - “Physics”
button - “Smoke” button to add the smoke
modifier. This time choose “Flow” (Fig-
ure 12.102). The smoke will not be emit-
ted from the plane itself but from particles
that are emitted. Adding smoke in the
“Physics” button and selecting “Flow” has
