Staying Off Disney Property
If none of the Disney resorts pique your interest, or perhaps if the ones you're interested in
are not quite within your budget, you may decide to stay off-property instead. If you decide
to stay off of Disney property, you'll give up some of the perks offered to those who stay
at Disney's resorts. You won't have the option of taking Disney's Magical Express shuttle
service, andDisneywon'tdeliver yourluggage toyourhotel. Youalsowon'tbeable toutil-
ize Extra Magic Hours offered at select parks on various days throughout the week, and you
don't qualify for the Disney dining plan. Another perk you'll lose by staying off-property is
the ability to book your FastPass+ and dining reservations as far in advance as those staying
at Disney resorts.
Still, after reviewing the Disney hotels in the various Disney World resort categories, you

stay at a Disney resort. We have had many great Disney vacations staying off-property. You

limitations with regard to dining reservations, etc. Still, you may want to stay off property
because...
• Thethoughtofstayingina450sq.footroomatoneofDisney'sValueresorts
with few of the 'conveniences of home' doesn't appeal to you.
• You can't afford the $300-$500+ per night to stay at some of Disney's mod-
erate or luxury offerings.
• You have three (or more) kids, and the Disney hotels that can accommodate
your family do not appeal to you, or are not within your budget.
• You want to visit some of the other Central Florida attractions, and you want
your own transportation.
Whatever the reason, you're in luck because the Orlando area has plenty of options for ho-
tels, condominiums, and rental homes for every budget.
Which location is best?
You'll find numerous options for hotels, condos, and rental homes within a 20 minute drive
of the major theme parks of Walt Disney World. There are three main areas in the region
where you'll find the best options: Exits 62 and 68 off of I-4, and also the abundance of
hotels and other accommodations off of International Drive in the Lake Buena Vista, Kis-
simmee, and Orlando areas.
